Required

  • National ID

    Your ID number plus a clear scan or photo of the card (front, and back if applicable).

  • Certificate of Good Conduct

    Issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, required for TRA Class E tour leaders and guides.

  • KRA PIN

    Your Kenya Revenue Authority PIN and a copy of your PIN certificate.

  • Professional certificates

    Tourism or guiding qualifications (e.g. KPSGA, first aid, language, or sector training certificates).

  • Referee details

    Name and phone of someone who can vouch for you (employer, partner, or community leader).

Optional

  • CV or résumé

    PDF or Word file summarising your guiding experience.

  • Proof of work

    Photos or PDFs of past tours, client reviews, or portfolio links.

How you get paid

  • You keep 85% of your listed rate; Guidemate takes a 15% platform fee.
  • When a tourist books, payment locks in on-chain escrow (Avalanche).
  • After the experience, the tourist ends the trip with a PIN or QR; payout releases to your wallet.
  • Completed tour earnings can settle to M-Pesa through the payout flow in your guide dashboard.

Escrow in plain language

Escrow means the tourist's money is held safely until the trip is done. You are not chasing invoices; the platform releases funds when the tourist confirms. Details: How escrow works.
